Substrate heating method for coating metal surfaces with high-silica zeolites: ZSM-5 coatings on stainless steel plates
نویسندگان
چکیده
Syntheses of ZSM-5 coatings on stainless steel plates were carried out via the substrate heating method. The reaction mixture was kept at temperatures below 100 C, while the metal plates were heated to temperatures above 100 C. It was demonstrated that continuous ZSM-5 coatings of different textures with different crystal morphologies and void fractions could be formed. ZSM-5 coatings were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The thickness of the ZSM-5 coatings could be varied depending on the synthesis conditions. Besides providing the opportunity of manipulating coating properties, the method is also beneficial in respect to the synthesis duration as compared to the conventional procedures. 2006 Elsevier Inc. Rapid reduction of Staphylococcus aureus populations on stainless steel surfaces by zeolite ceramic coatings containing silver and zinc ions.
This study demonstrates the anti-Staphylococcus aureus properties of stainless steel surfaces coated with zeolite containing 2.5% silver and 14% zinc ions. Stainless steel panels with and without the heavy-metal-containing coatings were inoculated with S. aureus and incubated at room temperature. Survival of S. aureus was significantly reduced by the silver/zinc coatings within 1 h. Many hospit...

Hydroxyapatite (HA) coatings are applied widely to enhance the level of osteointegration onto orthopedic implants. Atmospheric plasma spray (APS) is typically used for the deposition of these coatings; however, HA crystalline changes regularly occur during this high-thermal process. This article reports on the evaluation of a novel low-temperature (<47°C) HA deposition technique, called CoBlast...

Macor coatings on 316 alloys substrates were prepared by plasma spraying. The crystallization temperature, thermal expansion coefficient of mica glass-ceramic were at 900ºC and 40× 10−7/◦C respectively. The microhardness of obtained glass-ceramic coating was 6.8GPa and the coefficient friction was 0.98 .
